Our First Solo

Today was our first sail on our own. We headed out of Salem Harbor at 11 am, through the Salem harbor channel then due south between Cat Island and Eagle Island, careful to avoid Satams’s rock. We then reversed direction as a sailboat race came our way and set course for Baker’s Island and then onto Misery Island. From there, we headed back to the Salem Harbor Channel, dropped the main sail after furling the Genoa. On our second pass, we successfully picked up the mooring lines. (Someone came in a little too fast.) After a quick lunch, we had a beer and practiced tying a few knots.
